{"id":8302,"date":"2025-11-25T13:55:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-25T12:55:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/apnql.com\/mandat\/dialogue-session-on-the-environment-and-climate-change\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T13:55:44","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T12:55:44","slug":"dialogue-session-on-the-environment-and-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"mandate","link":"https:\/\/apnql.com\/en\/mandat\/dialogue-session-on-the-environment-and-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"Dialogue session on the environment and climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>BACKGROUND<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>We are at a crossroads.<\/li>\n<li>Our commitment to the current federal government is coming to an end.<\/li>\n<li>The period after October 2019 remains uncertain.<\/li>\n<li>The climate crisis is only accelerating.<\/li>\n<li>The Advisory Committee on Climate Action and the Environment (ACACE) is reviewing priorities for the coming years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>CLIMATE CRISIS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Our elders tell us that Mother Earth is facing a climate crisis.\n<ul>\n<li>They talk about changes in species migration, temperatures, and irreversible impacts on our land.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The Pan-Canadian Framework (PCF) aims to achieve a 30% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030.\n<ul>\n<li>Despite this, Canada&#8217;s response remains insufficient and puts us on track for 4\u00b0C warming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>A recent national report indicates that Canada&#8217;s climate has warmed and will continue to do so at a rate approximately twice the global average.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>Climate change optics<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Climate Change Lens helps clarify how climate change is accelerating existing challenges (such as biodiversity loss).<\/li>\n<li>A healthy environment is linked to everything around us: our health, our homes and infrastructure, our water, our food security, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Our survival is threatened if our environment is endangered.<\/li>\n<li>Solutions must incorporate the perspectives of First Nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid #000; padding: 20px; width: fit-content; background: #e1e1ff;\">Biodiversit\u00e9<br \/>\nInfrastructure<br \/>\nLangue<br \/>\nAutod\u00e9termination<br \/>\nSalubrit\u00e9 de l&#8217;environnement<br \/>\nConservation<br \/>\nS\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire<br \/>\nLogement<br \/>\nCulture<br \/>\nSant\u00e9 et mieux-\u00eatre<br \/>\nEau<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<hr>\n<h2>RESOLUTIONS<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The mandate of the AFN is based on resolutions.<\/li>\n<li>A few resolutions concerning the environment that will be tabled at this AGM:\n<ul>\n<li>Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)<\/li>\n<li>Support for the study on food, environment, health, and nutrition among children and young people (AESNEJ)<\/li>\n<li>Support for First Nations custodians<\/li>\n<li>First Nations Climate Emergency Declaration<\/li>\n<li>Respect for the inherent and constitutional rights of First Nations in the list of projects in Bill C-69<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are at a crossroads.
